About us

🌍We are a small business with big dreams, to contribute to sustainable systems of living that minimise waste and give back to Earth. Toothbrushes generate 1000 tonnes of waste per annum in Australia alone - that's 30 million toothbrushes thrown away each year! It takes hundreds of years for them to break down into microplastics which end up in our soil and waterways. By making small conscious choices each day, we can contribute towards a more sustainable future.

🌱Why bamboo? Bamboo is a rapidly growing and abundant resource that does not require the aid of harmful pesticides or fertilisers. It is able to be cut without harming the plant, which means forests can be harvested repeatedly without causing ecological damage. This makes it an affordable and eco-friendly option for promoting oral hygiene.

♻️Can I compost or recycle my toothbrush? Yes! The bamboo component and boar hair bristles can be home composted, whereas the bio-nylon bristles and connection insert can be industrially composted or recycled. When the electric handle reaches end of life (typically 3-5 years), it can be taken to your local e-waste recycling centre where the components can be safely separated and repurposed.

🦷How often should I replace my toothbrush heads? Bamboo toothbrushes and dental tools should be replaced every 2-3 months just like standard toothbrushes. It is recommended to air dry your brush after each use to prevent the growth of bacteria or mould. Our brush heads are polished with food grade soybean oil to aid in keeping them clean without the use of harsh chemicals.

🔋What is the electric toothbrush base made from? To meet industry safety standards, our electric toothbrush base is made from recyclable ABS which protects the electric motor and lithium battery, ensuring high grade waterproofing. This also guarantees durability and sustainability of the toothbrush, meaning you are reducing waste by only replacing the heads.

🐷How about the bristles? We have two bristle options, both gentle on the gums and tooth enamel:

  • Bio-based nylon, derived from castor oil and infused with charcoal. Naturally durable, water resistant and antibacterial.
  • Boar hair bristles which are 100% plastic-free, traditionally and ethically made from the hair of boars.
